Self-Help Defines
PERSISTENCE

Persistence always pays off!

You can not fail if you simply keep at what you are doing. The greatest achievers of the world failed many times before triumph. If they gave up on their goals each time they temporarily failed then we would not enjoy some of the greatest luxuries that are here today. Electricity, cars, movies, music, art, computers, aeroplanes, etc. were all created by extraordinary achievers through their continued right action and not over night. They stuck at their goal and did not quit until accomplished.

Some people though, mistake persistence with force. You can not force your way to the outcome through the power of your will. If you feel as if you are trying too hard then the way in which you are executing your plans are incorrect. If you firmly believe that the goal which you have set yourself is your earnest desire but you are finding it a painful undertaking then your approach to achieving that goal maybe completely at fault.

Take a step back and re-analyse your plans. Ask yourself whether the method of execution is yielding productive results. If it is not then scrap the plan and start over. If you do what you,ve always done, you will get what you've always got! Change the approach and go about finding various methods to reach your targets.

The journey, although rough and tough should never feel like it is wearing you down. This is where most people fail to continue. Their passion fades away and so does the desire to succeed and they end up quitting on everything they had tried so hard to obtain. Enjoy the ride. Treat every obstacle as a stepping stone to bring you higher onto the next level. If you were to succeed at your first attempt then you will not have learned anything and thus will not appreciate getting to your final destination.

Persistence is a key to being a successful person. It is after each attempt that will enable you to claim your success for each attempt has a gift attached within it that helps you develop the characteristics of a great achiever.

Bob Proctor the world famous success coach has written a compelling article about persistence. A must read for those who lack persistence skills.
